Volunteer with us to help Habitat for Humanity

IREM Arkansas Chapter 64 will be lending a helping hand with Habitat for Humanity this year. I have personally had to opportunity to volunteer with this organization and it was really fun. I even learned how to roof a house. SO if I can do it so can you. Join me this year and STEP UP and volunteer.

Thanks, Denna Griffis

---We provide all of the necessary tools, safety equipment, and water. Gloves are available, but are one size fits all. Volunteers are welcome to bring their own gloves and small hand tools, but please label. Anything left behind becomes a generous donation to Habitat and we thank you. Lunch can be provided if necessary. Most groups, as well as construction staff, prefer to work through lunch, but volunteers are welcome to bring lunch to the site and break at meal time.

---We teach on site. It is not necessary to come to a Habitat work site with any prior knowledge. All we ask is that you come willing to learn and be open to a little guidance.

--Assignments are given out according to availability unless otherwise requested by a volunteer group. A construction assignment could be anything from framing, roofing, siding, insulation, to landscaping. Prior warning is always given before assignments involving ladders and heights. Deconstruction assignments occur when a structure is donated to us but not the property it sits on. The structure may be being demolished or remodeled, but our job is to go in and salvage viable materials.

-- We will usually get assignments and addresses 10 days before your scheduled work date.

Weather policy: depending on the weather we may have to cancel and reschedule your work date. This is usually a decision that is made within 24 hours of the work date and will be decided through myself, the construction staff, and my volunteer group contact.

- According to our insurance carrier we are not allowed to have children under the age of 16 on an active construction site. Children between the ages of 16-18 may be allowed on the work site if their parent or guardian provides on-site supervision.
